Description

Overview
Precision boring and spot facing performed on aerospace primary and secondary structures, available on-site or in our Bordeaux workshop. Work executed to micrometric tolerances in compliance with manufacturer SRM. Includes fastener-hole rework and repair.

Deployment: At customer site — 50+ countries · 24/7 AOG · Bordeaux workshop
Scope: Execution · process qualification · operator training · tooling supply

How it works
Precision boring is the re-boring of an existing hole to micrometric accuracy to restore dimensional tolerance, move to the next oversize after cold working, or create a high-precision mating surface. Spot facing (spot facing/seat milling) restores flange flatness and perpendicularity.
On aircraft structures these operations are carried out on-site with portable high-precision tooling (Rotabroach, Recoules, OEM-specific tools) operated by qualified structures technicians. Dimensional traceability (dial indicators, bore gauges) is mandatory for OEM compliance.

Typical applications
  • Hole reworking after cold working: return to final size after the ~0.5–1.5% residual expansion
  • Damaged hole repair: step up to the SRM-prescribed oversize after misalignment or rework machining
  • Mating-surface refacing after removal and reinstall: restoring a joint's mating surface after repair
  • Service Bulletin / AD modifications: additional or modified holes as part of OEM modifications

Accuracy (FAQ)
H7 to H8 tolerance routinely, H6 possible with dedicated tooling. Ovality < 0.02 mm on 25 mm thickness. Typical roughness Ra 0.8–1.6 µm.
