OverviewVAC-V2 is based on the differential pressure method and is applicable to determination of gas transmission rate as well as solubility coefficient, diffusion coefficient and permeability coefficient of plastic films, composite films, high-barrier materials, sheeting and aluminum foils.

PrincipleThe pre-conditioned specimen is mounted in the gas diffusion cell to form a sealed barrier between two chambers. The lower-pressure chamber is evacuated first, followed by evacuation of the entire cell. Gas is introduced into the higher-pressure chamber to generate a constant pressure difference; gas permeates through the specimen into the lower chamber. Gas permeability and other barrier properties are obtained by monitoring pressure changes in the lower chamber.
