Scrubbers are particular systems that treat the substances in a gas stream, generally involving dust and acid micro pollutants. The application of this type of device is exploited in fume treatment plants in different types of chemical industries. More precisely, scrubbers are washing towers also called “absorbers”. Various types can be designed according to the needs and the space available in each company.
HOW THEY ARE MADE
Scrubbers consist mainly of a Venturi tube where the gas stream to be washed passes and the absorption liquid and a packed tower in which the gas that rises is separated from the entrained liquid. Various types of tower exist: with a spray from above using a single nozzle or at different heights and various accessories can be fitted to facilitate the separation process.
FIELD OF USE
Scrubbers are used to wash fluids of fumes from hydrochloric acid, hydrogen sulphide, sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide or hydrocarbons and to purify process gases. Generally, the Scrubbers are made of plastic and one or two washing stages can be provided for according to the type and quantity of pollutant and the space available in the company.
