Around the world, Matthiessen Bag Splitters are used in the first stage of many recycling processes. These bag openers not only tear or open the bags, but also empty their contents and meter them onto a conveyor belt. The material is separated and prepared for subsequent sorting and picking processes without being shredded. Matthiessen Bag Splitters are also used as Bale Breakers and Dosing Bunkers.

OPERATIONAL DETAILS
In the Matthiessen Bag Splitter, waste and recycling bags are transported into the bunker using a wheel loader, grapple, or a conveyor belt provided by the customer. A chain belt conveyor at the bottom of the bunker moves the material to the rotating drum. Here, retractable or fixed tearing tines grab the bags and guide them through a tearing comb at the top of the drum. The bags and their contents are pulled through the narrow space between the rotor tines and the comb blades, opened and emptied, without compressing or shredding the contents or other materials.
