Smart cryopedometer

Cryopedometers, placed at particularly sensitive points of the road network, can automatically monitor the temperature of the road and ground at varying depths, to accurately track the changes in the depth of frost in the roadway and to inform technical staff of the risks of thaw barriers. The length of cryopedometer, the number of temperature measuring points and their depth is determined by the needs of the customer. The probe can accommodate up to 16 measurement points at a maximum depth of 2 meters. It is possible to add a surface temperature measuring point at the request of the client. Laying a cryopedometer in the road is simple. The cryopedometer is sealed vertically in the road after a simple coring. Its cable runs into a channel. The vertical sealing of the cryopedometer allows for accurate monitoring of temperature changes in the different layers of the road. The collected data is automatically transferred through the cable. The automatic smart cryopedometer therefore requires no travel to retrieve temperatures. Unlike the manual cryopedometer, the automatic cryopedometer requires no travel to retrieve temperatures. It can be connected to various components to communicate data directly: • GPRS MODEM • Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) • Fibre optics • Weather station • Portable console/handheld case (for direct readings i.e. patrolmen ) The smart cryopedometer may be associated with a roadside cabinet in which a battery can power a GPRS MODEM and its antenna. The power consumption of the station is low, the battery life can be calibrated to cover the electrical needs of a winter road maintenance season (6 months for example).
