Product overview
The profileGAUGE C.ODC is a pre‑assembled, high‑precision sensor system for biaxial inline measurement of profile, outer diameter and position of ultra‑fine wires and small round stock. Two optoCONTROL ODC2700 optical micrometers are fixed in an X arrangement to capture simultaneous measurements on two axes, enabling reliable diameter, contour and position data even at high process speeds.

Functionality and integration
The system delivers measurement outputs at rates up to 5 kHz. Statistical calculation and subsequent processing of values from both axes can be performed by the machine controller or a higher‑level evaluation system. Industrial Ethernet interfaces and standard protocols (TCP, UDP, FTP) enable straightforward integration into existing automation and quality control workflows.

Measurement performance
The integrated ODC2700 micrometers measure diameters down to approximately 30 µm and provide measurement rates up to 5 kHz. The sensors are designed to perform across a wide range of surface conditions and to maintain robustness against ambient light interference.

Contamination detection and maintenance
profileGAUGE includes real‑time data analysis to detect and compensate for optical soiling early, preventing distorted measurements and reducing micrometer downtime. The system reports three contamination levels for predictive maintenance:

• Clean: no soiling detected in the measuring range
• Restricted: soiling detected in the ignored area
• Soiled: soiling detected in the relevant measuring area

Variants and protection
Optional protection variants and accessories are available for harsh industrial environments, including protective glass for the optics and an air purge collar to keep the LED beam path free from dust and particles.

Operation modes & interfaces
Supports synchronous and asynchronous operation with multiple interface options for machine and system integration. Fieldbus and interface options include Ethernet, EtherCAT, RS422, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET; supported protocols include TCP, UDP and FTP.
