Weatherproof microphone units WME 980 CN / WME 980 AM The WME 980 CN (H) - horizontal / WME 980 AM (V) – vertical are newly developed, extremely weatherproof microphone units for high-precision continuous sound measurements outdoors, stationary and mobile noise monitoring, analysis of environmental and traffic noise or pass-by measurement systems in the automotive/transport sector. The market launch of the climate-resistant microphone units WME 980 CN and WME 980 AM is the result of an intensive test phase, the implementation of important impulses from practical experience and a significant expansion of functionality and the range of applications. The new microphone units consist of the likewise newly developed 1/2" diffuse field-equalised MKS 231 measuring microphone capsule with straight frequency response of the diffuse field transmission factor up to 20 kHz. Further components are the 1/2" measuring microphone preamplifier MV 203.3, the dry adapter TA 202, the rain/dust protection RS 98, the windscreen VW 98 with bird deflector with integrated supply module including calibration generator. Both microphone units are equipped with a remotely switchable calibration generator, a cable driver that can be switched on the unit and a heater that can also be switched on the unit to prevent possible condensation under extreme climatic conditions. The calibration generator excites a membrane vibration via an electrostatic actuator. The weatherproof microphone units can be calibrated with standard sound calibrators 4010,4011 or the pistonphone type 5002 and are suitable for class 1 sound level meters according to IEC 61672.
