Description

Overview
Multi-sample thermogravimetric analyzers TGA-2000 and TGA-3000 provide automated workflows for moisture, volatile matter, ash, loss on ignition (LOI) and other thermal analyses across a wide range of materials (cement, ores, coal and coke, soil, food and feed, plastics, rubbers, graphite, fertilizers, used engine oil, etc.). Systems combine automated weighing, sample handling, configurable gas control and data export to standard formats to increase throughput and reproducibility while reducing operator exposure.

Main features
  • Automated multi-sample operation for industrial testing (single- or dual-furnace configurations).
  • Optional dual-carousel design to double sample capacity per furnace.
  • Optional automatic crucible-cover placement/removal for volatile-matter procedures without opening the furnace lid.
  • Internal high-precision balance (0.1 mg) positioned under the furnace; optional external balance for real-time initial weighing.
  • Windows-based software with ribbon UI, dockable panels and configurable layouts.
  • Data import from TXT/CSV and export to TXT, CSV, Excel or LIMS formats.
  • Integrated database with filtering, sorting and basic statistics for batch reporting.

Capabilities and hardware
Compact tabletop footprint with robust carousel mechanism that raises, rotates and lowers crucibles to the balance pedestal. Capacity options include up to 48 crucibles per furnace (dual-carousel) and system configurations supporting up to 96 crucibles per batch in dual-furnace setups. Cooling capability to approximately 70–80°C enables faster batch transitions and optional external balance stations permit preparation and recording of next-batch weights while analysis is in progress.

Procedure for TGA Analysis
Automated Procedure
  • Select the analysis method: use preconfigured methods or define temperature ramps, gas steps and result criteria.
  • Start weighing: optionally import sample IDs and perform automatic empty-crucible weighing on the carousel.
  • Add samples: place samples in crucibles and enter or import sample identification codes.
  • Automatic re-weighing: samples are re-weighed automatically with the furnace lid closed to improve precision.
  • Optional cover weighing: the upper carousel can lower to weigh crucible covers for volatile-matter determinations.
  • Begin analysis: system manages carousel alternation, cover handling and thermal profiles.
  • Export results: export or print reports in standard formats.

Manual Procedure with External Balance
  • Weighing: use the external balance to record crucible, sample and cover weights.
  • Furnace cooling: after cooling to ~70–80°C, transfer samples to the carousel.
  • Start analysis: run analysis immediately to reduce idle time.
  • Export results: export or print results in common formats.

Software features
  • Intuitive Windows software with ribbon bar, dockable panels and customizable themes.
  • Flexible data entry: manual input or import of sample IDs and weight records.
  • Configurable charts per sample (weight vs temperature/time) with adjustable axes and legends.
  • Integrated database for filtering, sorting and producing basic statistics (averages, standard deviations) and batch reports.
  • Seamless data export to TXT, CSV, XLS/Excel and LIMS-compatible formats.
  • Optional external-balance software to record initial weights concurrently with active analyses.

Applications
  • Coal and coke — moisture, volatile matter and ash content.
  • Cement — hydration analysis, LOI and carbonate quantification.
  • Ores — thermal decomposition and moisture content for processing.
  • Gypsum — dehydration behavior for construction materials.
  • Soil — organic matter and thermal stability assessment.
  • Food and feed — moisture and ash control for QC.
  • Plastics and rubbers — decomposition temperatures, filler content and thermal stability.
  • Graphite, fertilizers, used engine oil and many other materials for research and quality control.

Technical specifications
  • Temperature range: ambient to 1000°C (user-configurable).
  • Sample capacity: up to 48 crucibles per furnace (dual-carousel option); up to 96 crucibles per batch in dual-furnace configuration.
  • Balance sensitivity: 0.1 mg (internal high-precision balance).
  • Gas control: configurable per step — Air, Oxygen or Nitrogen.
  • Cooling capability: rapid cooling to ~70–80°C for faster batch transitions.
  • Software: Windows-based with configurable charts, database and export options.
  • External balance (optional): allows real-time initial-weight recording.
  • Data export formats: TXT, CSV, XLS/Excel; LIMS integration supported.
