NEFF’s TGM-SFM safety lock nuts increase the operational safety of trapezoidal thread drives and provide reliable protection against consequential damage caused by wear on a load-bearing threaded nut. They are used wherever the safe operation of lifting and positioning units, as well as the protection of people and machinery, are top priorities.
The safety lock nut is positioned as an additional safety element alongside the actual load-bearing nut and rotates freely without axial load during normal operation. As wear on the load-bearing nut increases, the distance between the two nuts changes, enabling early detection of wear. Should the load-bearing nut fail, the safety lock nut takes over the load, thereby limiting the risk of damage to the entire system.
