Overview The PCS-9631 is a protection, control and monitoring relay designed for shunt capacitor banks in solidly grounded, impedance grounded, Petersen coil grounded and ungrounded systems. It integrates a comprehensive protection function library, programmable logic, configurable I/O and frequency tracking, and supports IEC 61850, GOOSE and common SCADA protocols for substation automation requirements.
Protection and Control - Multi-stage overcurrent protection (50P/51P) and RMS overcurrent (51RMS).
- Six-stage zero-sequence overcurrent (50/51G), unbalance current protection (60P/G) and negative-sequence overcurrent (46).
- Undercurrent protection (37), thermal overload (49), breaker-failure protection (50BF) and mechanical protection (MR).
- Two-stage undervoltage/overvoltage protection (27/59) and phase/neutral voltage differential (87V/87VN).
- Remote and local breaker tripping/closing; programmable logic and configurable I/O; voltage and current drift auto-adjustment; integrated frequency tracking.
Monitoring and Metering - Measurements: current, voltage, active/reactive power, power factor, energy, frequency and harmonics.
- Circuit breaker, CT and VT supervision; tripping circuit supervision and self-diagnostics.
- Fault recorder and event logging: up to 1024 SOE entries (trips, alarms, binary input changes, operator actions).
- User-configurable high-resolution oscillography of the last four records (COMTRADE compatible).
Communication - Supports IEC 61850-8-1 MMS and GOOSE, IEC 61850-9-2 Sampled Values, IEC 60870-5-103 and DNP3.0.
- Flexible ports: multiple 10/100Base-TX (RJ45) and 100Base-FX Ethernet ports; RS-485 and RS-232 serial interfaces; dedicated RS-485 for clock synchronization; faceplate RJ45 for testing.
- Clock synchronization via pulse, IRIG-B and SNTP.
