OverviewThe PCS-9656 Arc Flash Relay delivers fast busbar and switchgear arc protection for substations, power plants and industrial sites. Arc sensors detect optical signals from arc faults and transmit them optically to the relay for reliable fault clearance and personnel/equipment protection.
FunctionalityPCS-9656 acquires incoming line currents and localized arc flash signals via arc sensors to discriminate arc faults. The unit integrates protection calculations, tripping outputs, event recording and operator interface. Up to 12 current inputs can be integrated in a single unit. Optical signal transmission between sensors and relay reduces electromagnetic interference and improves reliability. The device can be mounted in a protection panel or local switchgear.
