Description

Overview
PCS-9000 Energy Management System (EMS) is a real-time, computer-based supervisory control system designed to help electric power system operators monitor, control, manage and optimize the power grid. It uses advanced network management, an object-oriented database and visualized cross-platform technology. Deployed under hundreds of licenses in China and internationally, PCS-9000 supports the management of expanding energy infrastructures while helping reduce operation and maintenance costs and meet evolving business requirements.

Standard & Integration
PCS-9000 EMS is based on the IEC 61970 standard and provides a unified application platform for large-scale energy management. It integrates with other IEC 61970-compliant systems to protect existing investments and reduce information and functional redundancy.

Applications
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
  • Automatic Generation Control (AGC)
  • Power Application Software (PAS)
  • Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS)
  • Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS)
  • Operation Management Information System (OMIS)
  • Web-based access and interfaces

Functions - SCADA
SCADA is the core application on the unified platform, providing high-performance real-time data acquisition and supervisory control. Key functions include:
  • Data processing
  • Control and regulation
  • Sequence of Events (SOE)
  • Data calculation and statistical assessment
  • Trending
  • Post Disturbance Review (PDR)
  • Alarm event processing and recording
  • Data blocking and unblocking
  • Tagging
  • Topological coloring
  • Shift handover/takeover management
  • Clock synchronization
  • Database modeling

  • Area of Responsibility (AOR)

Functions - AGC
AGC optimizes and controls generation resource usage to meet regulatory and contractual requirements. Key features include:
  • Load Frequency Control (LFC)
  • LFC performance monitoring
  • Reserve monitoring
  • Generation scheduling
  • Transaction scheduling
  • Unit test and sampling
  • Ultra-short-term load forecast (USLF)

Functions - PAS
PAS improves operational safety and economic performance by analyzing system state and assisting dispatchers. Features include:
  • Network modeling
  • Network topology
  • State Estimation (SE)
  • Dispatcher Power Flow (DPF)
  • Short-term Load Forecast (SLF)
  • Contingency Analysis (CA)
  • Short Circuit Analysis (SCA)
  • Optimal Power Flow (OPF)
  • Automatic Volt/Var Control (AVC)

Functions - DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator)
DTS provides realistic training simulation of power system and control center operations, covering normal, emergency and fault conditions and restoration processes. Subsystems include:
  • Trainer subsystem
  • Power system simulation subsystem
  • Control center simulation subsystem

Functions - WAMS
WAMS enables monitoring and analysis of dynamic grid behavior, including fault disturbance and low-frequency oscillation analysis, grid characteristic analysis, operation status monitoring and accurate dynamic process recording.

Functions - Web & OMIS
PCS-9000 provides standard web interfaces (including HTML and JSP) enabling maintenance-free remote access via web servers. OMIS delivers integrated operation analysis and unified management for power grids.
