Description

Overview
The AIRWATT external heat recovery unit recovers waste heat produced by oil-lubricated rotary screw compressors and transfers it to water for sanitary or space heating. Waste heat from the compressor oil can represent the majority of the compressor's consumed energy and be reused with minimal additional operating cost.

Function
The unit contains two separate counterflow circuits (oil and water) and a stainless steel plate heat exchanger. Compressor oil circulates continuously through the AIRWATT oil piping and the plate heat exchanger. A thermostatic valve controls water flow: water begins to circulate through the heat exchanger only when oil reaches the set temperature, preventing overcooling of the compressor. The unit has four rear connections: two for the oil circuit and two for the water circuit. Water flow rate affects outlet temperature (lower flow yields higher outlet temperature).

Heat recovery
Heat is extracted from compressor oil via the plate heat exchanger under thermostatic control. This design enables efficient recovery of a large share of compressor energy for heating sanitary water or integrating into facility heating systems.

Maintenance
Perform a visual inspection monthly to check for damage or leaks. Regular cleaning prevents sediment and debris accumulation in piping and inside the plate heat exchanger.

  • Every 6 months — very dirty or mineral-rich water
  • Every 12 months — moderately dirty or surface water
  • Every 3 years — clean water
