OverviewThe OMRON E8PC is a compact multi-sensing sensor that measures pressure and temperature simultaneously at the same position and communicates via IO-Link. It is designed for inline monitoring in hydraulic and sealant systems to detect early signs of abnormalities and support process stabilization.
Pressing machine — Problems- Rising hydraulic oil temperature reduces oil viscosity.
- Reduction in hydraulic pressure causes inconsistent press quality.
- Pressure monitoring alone cannot detect temperature-driven viscosity changes.
Pressing machine — Solution from OMRON- Combine pressure and temperature measurements to detect early signs of pressure loss and oil viscosity change.
- Quantify optimal temperature and pressure ranges at the same sensing position without relying solely on operator experience.
- Send condition data to PLCs via IO-Link for automated alarms and corrective actions.
Machining center — Problems- Hydraulic oil temperature increases during repeated tool changes.
- Packing deterioration causes hydraulic oil leaks.
- Pressure drops degrade machining quality.
- Multiple hydraulic sections make locating degraded packing time-consuming.
Machining center — Solution from OMRON- Use temperature rise as an indicator of potential leaks and packing degradation.
- Monitor temperature trends to correlate temperature behavior with packing wear.
- Mount multiple sensors on different pipes; the LED display and IO-Link data allow rapid identification of the affected line.
Sealant dispenser — Problems- Dispensed volume varies at the same pressure because sealant viscosity changes with temperature.
- Both dispensing pressure and temperature must be controlled to ensure consistent volumes.
- Limited space may prevent installing separate pressure and temperature sensors.
Sealant dispenser — Solution from OMRON- Simultaneous pressure and temperature sensing enables detection of conditions that cause dispensing variation.
- Quantify optimal dispensing pressure and temperature ranges without relying on operator skill.
- A single multi-sensing sensor saves installation space compared with two separate sensors.
