The European Commission laying down rules for the application of directive 2005/32/EC and the concerning regulations EC 640/2009 and EC4/2014 on the specific ecodesign requirements for electric motors.
The European regulations define the minimum levels of efficiency (EN 60034-30- 1; 2014), the test method (established by law EN 60034-2- 1; 2014) and the obligatory dates for using motors with IE3 efficiency level.
From 1 January all threephase motors with power from 0.75Kw to 375 KW must guarantee IE3 level, while the motors combined with a variable speed drive (VSD)/inverter, must guarantee the IE2 level.
