The performance of commercially available proximity sensors is usually limited as their switching distances can vary considerably based on the installation situation and the surrounding material. The VariKont inductive sensors with Active Shielding Technology, however, use a combination of a primary coil and secondary coil to achieve high switching distances up to 30 mm flush and 50 mm non-flush.
