SystemThe SONO-WZ system comprises a lancehead-shaped TRIME probe and a portable handheld measuring unit that displays results instantly. The probe is robust for site use and the compact instrument simplifies routine testing.
Measurement principleMeasurement is based on Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR): a high-frequency pulse travels along the probe and creates an electromagnetic field. The pulse travel time correlates directly to volumetric water content, producing a quantitative reading of water in the fresh concrete.
Why use it?The SONO-WZ helps control water content to prevent cracking and spalling, protect reinforcement and ensure long-term durability. Results are obtained rapidly (1–2 minutes), allowing calculation of the water/cement ratio and faster decision-making compared with traditional methods such as the Darr oven method.
