Phonoptics has adapted its fiber optic sensor technology to offer a dedicated use for gas leak detection. ​ Thanks to the use of our optical fiber sensors compatible with extreme environments, this sensor can be placed without risk in an ATEX environment. The sensor is connected to the remote electronics in the safe area, where the signal will be processed thanks to the integrated high performance micro controller capable of performing a frequency analysis and detecting sounds specific to gas leaks. The alert signal and the associated information are then sent wirelessly via any existing network (GSM, 4G, LoRa, SigFox, etc.). Acoustic gas leak detection has the advantage of being independent of the direction (measurement use. ​ in all directions of space) and is not impacted by air currents. It is therefore particularly suitable for outdoor detection, but can also be adapted for use inside buildings.
