Overview
Vulkano is a portable analyser for detecting and quantifying Total Organic Carbon (T.O.C.) in dehumidification process air. It delivers rapid, reliable checks for process-air purity and is suitable for both spot verifications and adaptation to continuous on-line monitoring.

Process context and risks addressed
During dehumidification of hygroscopic post-consumer plastics, moisture extraction can release substances absorbed by the polymer (N.I.A.S. — Non Intentionally Added Substances). In closed air circuits these organics can accumulate and cause issues such as:

• Oil deposition on internal surfaces of the dehumidifier
• Saturation of molecular sieves with consequent loss of drying efficiency
• Insufficient extraction of N.I.A.S. from the treated polymer

Complementary protection and monitoring
To protect the dehumidifier and final product, use of fume condensers (e.g. Condenso) and activated carbon filters (e.g. PureTech) is recommended. Vulkano enables monitoring of filter saturation and helps determine the appropriate replacement interval.

Interface and operation
Vulkano features a clear, diagnostic and easy-to-use interface that allows line operators to perform rapid spot checks. The analyser can also be configured for continuous on-line measurements to provide ongoing process control and trend analysis.
