OverviewWhether riveting, deep-hole drilling, grinding or turning: vibrations and noise often occur when machining lightweight or flexible materials. Our anti-vibration components made of Densimet® (e.g. Densimet®176) enable quiet, low-vibration machining of metal parts. With a tungsten content of over 90% and additions of nickel and iron, the Densimet® alloy combines very high density, a high modulus of elasticity and increased toughness, making it a rigid, vibration-damping material for tool shafts.
Main uses / applications- Boring bars (low-vibration machining of bores, up to ≈15× shaft diameter)
- Grinding quills
- Tool shafts
- Other precision tools requiring anti-vibration compensation
Your advantages at a glance- High rigidity
- Reduced vibration during machining
- High modulus of elasticity
Notes on supply & manufacturingRods of Densimet®176 are stocked in diameters from 6 mm to 62 mm to ensure short delivery times. Ground rods to customer-specific dimensions and tolerances can be supplied on request. Manufacturing of anti-vibration components to customer specifications is available.
Material informationComponents are produced from Densimet® heavy-metal alloy (Densimet®176): a tungsten-based heavy-metal matrix (tungsten content >90%) with nickel and iron additions to increase toughness and provide a rigid, vibration-damping tool shaft material.
