Product overviewThe Spira series press brakes are electric press brakes designed for sustainability and stable bending performance. They operate without hydraulic oil, reducing environmental impact and eliminating variability due to temperature, ageing and hygroscopicity. Servomotors engage only during the bending stroke to minimise standby energy consumption.
General configurationAll machines feature two synchronized axes (Y1‑Y2) and a 4‑axis backgauge (X, R, Z1, Z2) to support accurate positioning and repeatability during production.

Components and processes- Controlled speed: High-performance servo motors deliver stable, programmable speed profiles.
- Precision and durability: Worm screws and C5 steel guides ensure precise movement and long life.
- Y-axis positioning: Positioning accuracy down to 0.005 mm for high repeatability.
- Heat treatment: Machine structure heat-treated up to 650 °C to relieve internal stresses and reduce long-term deformation.
Reliability as a principleA dual‑servo architecture independently controls Y1 (left ram) and Y2 (right ram) with high‑speed servomotors, providing high speed, precision and optimized cost of ownership.
Components used:
- Screws: Techmation (TW-JP) or TSUBAKI NAKASHIMA (JP)
- Thrust bearings: NSK (JP)
- Belt: Gates (USA)
- Machine CNC: STEP (IT)
- Optical scales: GIVI Misure (IT)
- Electrical components: Schneider (FR)
- Linear guides and slides: HIWIN (TW)
- Backgauge recirculating screws: HIWIN (TW)
Environmental and energy benefitsThe Spira series uses no hydraulic oil, lowering environmental impact and disposal costs. Oil-free operation removes variability from temperature and ageing. Servomotors operate only during bending, resulting in very low standby consumption.
CNC and interfaceabilityEquipped with CNC systems from Step Automation, Spira machines support 3D models and programs via an intuitive graphical interface. Multiple options enable CNC, offline software and Industry 4.0 functions for production management, maintenance and remote supervision. New-generation ROCK controls offer advanced programming and press brake management.
LazerSafe safety systemThe LazerSafe LZS-2 laser light barrier protects the punch danger zone, detecting intrusions and stopping the machine automatically. Key parameters:
- Detection resolution: Approx. 4 mm for high sensitivity to small objects.
- Response speed: Very fast, typically under 1 ms.
- Laser type: Class 1M laser.
- Advanced safety features: Continuous stop-distance monitoring, Tray/Box mode for complex bends, automatic muting point management.
- Compatibility: Integrates with various press brake types and non-standard tools.
Proactive maintenance and monitoringOptional predictive maintenance and energy analysis platforms monitor key components, detect anomalies early and provide dashboards for utilisation rate, energy efficiency and cost over configurable intervals. Systems can interface with MES for detailed production-cost analysis.
