Description

Overview
Round hole perforation is the most widely used pattern for hammer mill screens. Customised round-hole screens provide consistent particle size, stable throughput and long service life for applications such as feed milling, recycling, pet food and aquaculture. RMIG Solutions supplies a broad range of perforated hammer mill screens with hole diameters from 0.50 mm to beyond 10 mm and multiple thickness and pattern options.

Benefits
  • Higher throughput, less waste: Optimised open area and intelligent hole layout increase material processing per hour and reduce energy consumption.
  • Consistent milling results: Tight tolerances and precise perforation ensure uniform particle size and fewer process interruptions.
  • Extended screen lifetime: Screens with hole diameters equal to or smaller than sheet thickness show improved wear resistance and require fewer replacements.
  • Faster, easier screen changes: Ready-to-fit variants minimise downtime and simplify maintenance.

Materials, thickness and performance
Screen thickness, hole diameter, pitch and total open area must be balanced for best milling performance. Thicker screens improve durability but affect the passage of material when holes are small. For heavy-duty conditions, through-hardened steels are available. Sharp-edged holes (typically on the back side of the perforated sheet) cut more effectively than rounded edges; correct orientation reduces clogging and increases throughput. Optimised hole layout and orientation can deliver productivity gains of up to ~25%.

Benefits summary (process optimisation)
  • Optimised open area and pattern layout for increased throughput and lower energy use.
  • Precise perforation tolerances for uniform particle size and fewer interruptions.
  • Longer screen life when hole diameter is matched to sheet thickness.
  • Ready-to-fit variants and design options for quicker maintenance.
