Description

Overview
The R&S®NRPxxP pulse power sensors are wideband power sensors for measuring pulse characteristics and output power in development, production, installation and maintenance of radar systems and components. The sensors provide a maximum video bandwidth of 30 MHz and a rise/fall time < 13 ns, enabling measurement of pulse widths down to approx. 50 ns. Automatic analysis and high-resolution modes reduce manual steps and support repeatable measurements.

Key facts
  • Maximum video bandwidth: 30 MHz
  • High sampling capability: 80 Msample/s (envelope reconstruction)
  • Rise/fall time: < 13 ns
  • Minimum measurable pulse width: approx. 50 ns
  • Automatic pulse analysis and statistical evaluation

High resolution mode
  • Equivalent time sampling for repetitive signals with time resolution up to 100 ps
  • Trace mode resolution: 12.5 ns for envelope reconstruction
  • High sample density required for magnified signal sections

Automatic pulse analysis
Automatic pulse analysis determines key time and level parameters without manual marker placement, and adapts to pulse-shape changes.
  • Time parameters: rise/fall time, start/stop time, pulse width, duty cycle, pulse period, pulse-off time
  • Level parameters: pulse top, pulse base, peak, average, minimum, overshoot (positive and negative)

Statistical analysis
Statistical evaluation of amplitude distributions for noise-like signals to obtain peak envelope power, average power and peak-to-average ratio. CCDF, CDF or PDF measurements using 1,000,000 samples can be performed in less than 25 ms at full video bandwidth.

Trigger sender mode
When combined with an R&S®NRX base unit or R&S®NRP-Z5 sensor hub, an R&S®NRPxxP sensor can provide an internal trigger derived from the measured signal to synchronize other sensors.
