OverviewThe modular R&S®OSP open switch and control platform is designed for RF switching and control. Available as compact 2 RU models (R&S®OSP220, R&S®OSP230) and a larger 3 RU model (R&S®OSP320), it covers configurations from desktop laboratory setups to complex rack-integrated test systems. The platform accepts RF relay, SSR, digital I/O and auxiliary modules and can be networked for distributed or remote operation.
Key facts- Modular platform for reproducible RF switching and automated test sequences
- Compact 19" rack units in 2 RU and 3 RU form factors
- RF relay modules (electromechanical) up to 67 GHz and SSR modules up to 43.5 GHz
- Expandable via Ethernet and satellite box (R&S®OSP‑B200S2) for remote/distributed setups
- Local and remote control via built-in web GUI; manual touchscreen on OSP230 and optional on OSP320
Models and operation- R&S®OSP220: compact 2 RU base unit
- R&S®OSP230: compact 2 RU base unit with manual control touchscreen
- R&S®OSP320: larger 3 RU base unit with optional monitor/touch module
- All models run a powerful CPU with LINUX® and provide a browser-based web GUI for local or remote control; external keyboard/mouse and HDMI monitor support
Modules and optionsThe platform accepts a variety of module types to build application-specific switching solutions. Modules and options include:
- Universal electromechanical RF relay modules (N relays) from DC to 12.4 GHz
- Electromechanical RF relay modules up to 18 GHz, 26.5 GHz, 40 GHz, 50 GHz and 67 GHz
- Solid-state relay (SSR) modules (up to 43.5 GHz), digital I/O and multiplexer modules
- Auxiliary modules such as RF attenuators and special system modules
- Module kit for off-the-shelf customization
- Satellite box R&S®OSP‑B200S2 for remote operation and reduced RF cable lengths
Control, path and trigger features- Web GUI for switching, path definition and manual operation; GUI auto-adjusts to monitor resolution
- Path control: combine relay states to define paths; copy/paste path syntax into SCPI for efficient programming
- Trigger function for fast and precise switching; hardware triggers and four trigger types (single, toggle, sequenced, addressed)
- With SSR modules, external triggers can make switching up to 1000× faster than LAN; manual trigger available for debugging
- Trigger configuration via SCPI and touchscreen; GUI displays minimal trigger interval and maximum trigger frequency for a given configuration
ApplicationsThe R&S®OSP is intended for production, test laboratories and development environments requiring reliable and automated RF switching and control. Typical uses include EMC test systems, RF routing for generators and amplifiers, multiplexing forward/reverse signals and interlock verification.
