Overview
The FlexLine system provides automated cable and terminal processing based on modular robotics. Schäfer implements customer-specific production requirements with this solution for wire harness and cable assembly, suitable for wide product variety and low to medium quantities with a high degree of automation.

Modular system and functionality
FlexLine is a complete cable-assembly solution composed of interchangeable modules for straightening, stripping, crimping, plugging, latching, setting down and testing. Existing devices can be integrated and adapted. A central robot transports intermediate products between processing and test stations, which can be arranged in any sequence and extended as needed.

Flexibility and production concept
The system supports flexible production down to Batch Size 1 through short set-up times, optical referencing, central robot handling and the use of processing recipes managed by the application software. Optional networking enables central production coordination to improve machine utilization.

Operation and quality
The WireStar operating software provides an intuitive machine interface available on tablet PC for process control. Modular test stations allow inline quality checks; features include 360° final-product images, production and quality logging and 100% traceability from finished product back to raw material. Test data can be exported via database and interface functions for extended analyses.
