Description

Overview
Rocklabs pulverisers and mills are engineered to prepare samples and process a wide range of materials from 1 g up to 10 kg for subsequent instrumental analysis or wet chemistry. Depending on the model and configuration, they can produce final particle sizes down to -75 µm while minimising cross-sample contamination.

Models
  • Rocklabs RM1000: processes 1 g–1 000 g. Clamping options include an air-cushion pneumatic chuck or a RotoClamp mechanical chuck.
  • Rocklabs RM2000: processes 200 g–1 500 g. Two-handed head clamp operation; optional pneumatic lifter assists head positioning for loading/unloading.
  • Continuous ring mill: designed for large samples from 1 kg to 10 kg. Available as single-head for coarse comminution or two-stage configuration for finer product. Can be integrated into an RSD with multiple outlet split configurations.
  • ABM3000 batch mill: unattended batch loading up to 30 samples. Multiple head sizes, materials and configurations available. Features touchscreen, PLC control, automatic sand wash, compressed-air blow-off and extraction for automated inter-sample cleaning.

Key features
  • Processing range: 1 g–10 kg (model dependent)
  • Typical final particle size: down to -75 µm (depending on model/configuration)
  • Low cross-sample contamination design
  • Suitable for downstream instrumental analysis and wet chemistry
  • Options for automation and system integration (RSD, PLC, touchscreen)

Applications
  • Sample preparation for laboratory analysis
  • Preparation of materials for instrumental methods (XRF, AAS, ICP-MS, etc.)
  • Preparation of materials for wet chemistry workflows
  • High-throughput and large-scale sample-prep workflows in mining and industrial laboratories

Spare parts & consumables
  • Pulveriser heads in multiple sizes, configurations and materials (chrome, carbon steel, tungsten carbide, agate, zirconia)
  • Adapter plates for cross-compatibility between pulveriser types
  • Head mass options from ~40 g up to 1.5 kg
  • Wide range of additional spare parts and wear components

Technical specifications
  • Brand: Rocklabs
  • Sample mass capacity: from 1 g up to 10 kg depending on model
  • Final product size capability: typically down to -75 µm depending on model and configuration
  • Maximum feed size by model: RM1000 = 8 mm; RM2000 = 10 mm; ABM3000 = 5 mm; Continuous ring mill = 8 mm
  • Product size by model: RM1000/RM2000 = ~75 µm; Continuous ring mill = single stage ~-300 µm (≈80%); two-stage ~-100 µm (≈95%) ; ABM3000 = 95% at -75 µm
  • Machine mass (example): RM1000 = 390 kg; RM2000 = 390 kg; Continuous ring mill = 475 kg; ABM3000 = not specified
  • ABM3000 features: batch loading up to 30 samples, touchscreen, PLC control, automatic washing, compressed-air blow-off and extraction for automated cleaning between samples
  • Design emphasis: minimised contamination, reliability and safe operation for laboratory and production environments

Case study (summary)
Scott supplied a complete sample preparation system to Peñoles (Mexico), demonstrating large-scale integration of Rocklabs pulverisers and mills into a full sample-prep workflow for a major mining operation.
