Description

Groundwater pollution is now a well known problem around the world. The danger occurs when polluting molecules leach through the soil and into a water sheet supplying a drinkable water tank. The SPS 200 soil solution sampling system is a simple equipment built to help environmental scientists study the movements of molecules in the soil. It can extract water coming out of cultivated soils or any other type of soil. The principle on which the SPS 200 works happens to be cheap, quick and most of all efficient. The soil water is drawn into the porous ceramic cup. It will only take two days to collect enough solution in order to have it analysed (nitrate, pesticide or other molecule's concentrations, measuring out fertilizers ...). Key Advantages IMPORTANT VOLUME OF SOIL SOL. COLLECTED EASY TO USE COST EFFECTIVE Disadvantages Not chemically inert with all elements or molecules GENERAL TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS This system collects the soil water which is freely moving in the soil. The system works as long as the soil water potential is in the 0 / -850 mbar range. Working principle : A porous ceramic cup is fixed on the bottom of an empty PVC tube. The tube is introduced into the soil in order to collect the soil solution. After creating a depression inside the tube (with vacuum pump ref. SPS 400), the soil solution is drawn out of the soil trough the porous ceramic cup and into the tube. After a few days, a vacuum pump (ref. SPS 400 or PAV 2000 ) and collection flask are used to collect the soil solution contained in the SPS tube.
