The rotary strainer is considered a safety filter as it is used to remove larger solids from the processing fluid before the centrifugal clarification step begins. The strainer consists of a set of moving rotary brushes in a cylindrical body and a filtering basket where accumulated solids are collected and removed.
The separated solids are periodically and automatically conveyed to the outlet through a pneumatic valve fitted on the bottom of the strainer and controlled by a control panel.
Two pressure sensors control inlet, outlet and differential pressures.
