Olfactory detection ports (ODPs) enable odour characteristics to be associated with particular compounds, by taking advantage of the human nose – with its extraordinary sensitivity and selectivity – to record analytes as they elute from a GC column.As a result, ODPs have become a vital tool across food & beverage, fragrance and material emissions applications. However, many odour-active compounds are also sensitive to heat, meaning they can degrade in the heated transfer line of the ODP, leading to poor sensitivity and potential misidentification of odours.
