OverviewThe fully automated robot palletizing line handles the complete process after packaging for 25 kg valve bags. The system prepares bags for palletizing, palletizes them, picks and places empty pallets, and places plastic sheets at the bottom of the pallet. The line includes transport lines, buffers and hardware that take the full bag off the filling machine, press it to improve rectangularity, and present it to the robot pick-up point.
Advantages of robotic palletizing vs conventional palletizer- Fewer moving mechanical components → reduced downtime and maintenance.
- Smaller footprint, suitable for limited factory space.
- Greater flexibility to change pallet patterns and reassign the robot for other tasks or bag sizes.
- Comparable initial investment; system can meet palletizing speed requirements depending on product mix.
System components and material flow- Industrial robot (FANUC M-710iC/70) with a multifunctional gripper for bag, pallet and sheet handling.
- Transport lines and mechanisms that remove filled bags from the filler, press bags to improve rectangularity, and feed them to the robot pick-up position.
- Roller conveyor for pallets with three sections: palletizing station, buffer position, and pick-up/dispatch position for full pallets.
- Buffer for empty pallets with sensors to detect pallet presence and restrict robot movement to avoid collisions.
- Safety fence with interlocks and sensors to protect operators.
Siviko PBG-4 multifunctional gripperThe Siviko PBG-4 is an integrated multifunctional gripper with three main functions:
- Palletize bags at production speeds and meet inertia requirements.
- Pick and place empty pallets.
- Pick and place plastic sheets on empty pallets; integrated sensors verify sheet pick-up and enable automatic retry if necessary.
Using this gripper lets the robot perform bag palletizing, pallet handling and sheet placement without additional manipulators when cycle time allows.
Siviko Smart Pallet softwareThe palletizing control and operator interface is provided by Siviko Smart Pallet software, the control system core. Operators can create and manage palletizing configurations and control the line without programming skills. Key operator inputs include:
- Bag size, weight and preferred orientation
- Pallet dimensions
- Layout program for even and odd rows
- Number of items per row and number of rows
The software generates palletizing patterns, commands robot movements, verifies inputs to prevent unsafe or impossible configurations, and provides SCADA/HMI functionality (overview, control, alarms, historical productivity data).
Application exampleDesigned for palletizing 25 kg valve bags (dry building materials). Integration includes robot surroundings for material flow, buffers and safety systems to ensure consistent operation in industrial production environments.
