Description

Crest-to-Crest Wave Springs are also available with squared-shim ends. Shim ends provide a 360° contact surface when compared to the wave point contact of plain ends. The shim-ends under load, more evenly distribute the springs force upon adjacent components. This feature is similar to the concept of double-disc grinding springs for a flat surface. Shim ends have also been used to affix springs to mating components, as a flat locating surface that may be attached by various methods in the assembly. Smalley offers 2 series of shim end Crest-to-Crest Wave Springs from stock: CS Series Inch shim end series available from .312" to 2" in carbon and stainless steel CMS Series Metric shim end series available from 8 mm to 60 mm in carbon and stainless steel Crest-to-Crest Springs are also available without shim ends. The following series are available from stock: C Series Inch series available from .188" to 2" in carbon and stainless steel CM Series Metric series available from 5 mm to 60 mm in carbon and stainless steel Water Valve A Smalley Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring, also known as a Flat Wire Compression Spring, prevents the valve handle from undesired rotation by maintaining a constant load and engaging the threads on the main shaft. As the valve handle rotates, the wave springs' resistance increases, maintaining the valve position. Watch the video below.
