We now offer Tapered Section Retaining Rings (Circlips) from stock in addition to Spirolox and Constant Section Snap Rings. What is a Tapered Section Retaining Ring (Circlip)? Tapered section retaining rings, also referred to as circlips, are retaining rings with a tapered radial wall. They are designed for high thrust loads and heavy-duty applications. Tapered section retaining rings can be axially installed into a bore/shaft groove to safely secure assemblies in place. The tapered radial width decreases from the top to the free ends, ensuring nearly full contact with the groove when installed. External Tapered Section Retaining Rings RSSE (Imperial) and RSSD (Metric) Axially assembled retaining rings for shafts, designed to be installed into a shaft groove.
