Its distinguishing characteristic lies in the way it locks the screw. The lock is achieved by polygonal deforming of one or more coils of the self-locking insert. This deformation generates a high level of adherence to the flanks of the screw threading and eliminates unscrewing effects caused by dynamic stress, vibrations, heat loads. The screw braking avoids the use of locknuts, special washers or other complicated and expensive systems. The torques obtained using FILTEC® self-locking helical inserts are comparable to the specifications indicated in ISO 2320 standards. Bench testing for tension and torque provide systematic controls and ensure quality. For purposes of easy identification FILTEC® self-locking helical inserts are red.
