NavPad™ is an audible and highly tactile assistive interface that makes navigation and selection of screen based content possible for those who cannot see or interact with visual display screens. This would include people with impaired vision, an inability to read, restricted reach or limited dexterity. NavPad also provides a more tolerant and usable system interface for those using headsticks or styli, and for those with neuropathy or tremor of the head, hands or fingers. NavPad is specified for use as part of an ADA compliant audible menu navigation system. These illuminated versions of the NavPad device assist those with partial sight or residual light/dark perception to locate the headset connection point and to differentiate the tactile keys and their functions. Integral illumination can also be used to confirm the active status of these assistive technology products. Successful implementation of the NavPad requires a compliant host application featuring synthesized or recorded human voice audio-tags.
