Since 2017, we have been developing the “Belt Chain” project: a hybrid transmission belt that combines the advantages of traditional belts—clean operation, low noise, and dimensional stability—with those of chains—open assembly and the ability to create any length by joining segments. After registering several patents and developing a highly complex manufacturing process, we are proud to launch ERO Joint® B1, a quick-assembly power transmission belt, the power transmission counterpart of ERO Joint® HP, at the end of 2024 in 14M pitch. The 8M version followed in 2025.
With over 10 years of experience gained from ERO Joint® HP, the benchmark quick-assembly conveyor timing belt, ERO Joint® B1 transmission belt is entirely manufactured by Tanals and produced to its final specified length using continuous cords, ideally positioned and tensioned. This unique design ensures optimal performance and reliability while enabling rapid machine troubleshooting and significantly minimizing downtime. ERO Joint® B1 is the only quick-assembly transmission belt capable of replacing any standard transmission belt in record time. It assembles like a chain: multiple belt sections can be joined together to obtain any belt length, with no limitation. Assembly is quick and easy, requiring no tools, as the plastic pin can be inserted or removed by hand.
In the 14M version, ERO Joint® B1 is stocked in approximately ten standard lengths (and 25 lengths in 8M). By combining these base lengths, the entire range of belt sizes can be achieved. The belts are stocked closed, in sleeves, assembled with a plastic pin. These sleeves can be cut to the required width using any standard belt-cutting machine. Once the pin is removed, the belt becomes open, and if necessary, several sections of the same width can be joined together to form a longer belt. ERO Joint® B1 transmission belt is widely used on automotive assembly lines to drastically reduce production stoppages. A conventional transmission belt failure typically results in around one hour of production downtime. With ERO Joint® B1, belt replacement can be completed in just 10 minutes, saving 50 minutes of production time—equivalent to approximately 50 vehicles produced.
ERO Joint® B1 is compatible with HTD pulleys and curvilinear tooth pulleys (such as Poly Chain® types). Its fields of application are vast, particularly in continuous production environments where machine downtime is costly and rapid intervention is critical.
