Description

Overview
PhiCap MKP capacitors are metalized polypropylene (MKP) capacitors engineered for low-voltage power factor correction (PFC) in industrial installations. They feature a cylindrical aluminium can with stud mounting and are supplied in single-phase and three-phase designs. Rated voltage ranges from 230 to 525 V AC and nominal output ranges from 0.5 to 30 kVAr depending on type. Typical lifetime is up to ~135,000 hours; pulse-current capability up to approx. 200·IR.

Applications
  • Automatic capacitor banks
  • Fixed power factor correction (e.g. motor compensation)
  • Detuned (tuned-off) PFC systems
  • Dynamic PFC systems

Key features
  • Cylindrical aluminium can with stud mounting
  • Stacked winding design
  • Metalized polypropylene (MKP) dielectric
  • Rated voltage: 230 … 525 V AC (type-dependent)
  • Nominal output: 0.5 … 30 kVAr per capacitor (type-dependent)
  • Available in single-phase and three-phase versions
  • Pulse current withstand capability up to approx. 200·IR (type-dependent)

Customer benefits
  • Up to 30 kVAr per capacitor in three‑phase applications
  • Up to 6 kVAr per case in single‑phase applications
  • Long expected service life (typical up to ~135,000 hours, application-dependent)
  • Pulse-current capability supports transient loads
  • Reduced installation footprint versus equivalent solutions

Mechanical and maintenance
  • Compact, low-weight cylindrical can reduces mounting costs
  • Stud terminals for straightforward electrical connection
  • Maintenance-free operation under normal conditions; periodic inspections recommended

Safety
  • Self-healing dielectric
  • Internal overpressure disconnector
  • Shock-hazard protected capacitor terminals on specified series (e.g. B32344E series)
