By signing the Kyoto Protocol, the European Union has committed itself to achieving the so-called 20-20-20 target, which means: 20% reduction in CO2 emissions, 20% reduction in energy consumption, 20% increase in energy produced from renewable sources, by the year 2020. The Energy related Products (ErP) Directive 2009/125 / EC is one of the most important measures taken by the EU to achieve the targets agreed at Kyoto.
