Product description
tesa HAF® 8405 is a reactive heat-activated double-sided adhesive film based on phenolic resin and nitrile rubber. The amber film has no backing and is supplied with a glassine paper liner for handling. It is not self-adhesive at room temperature and is activated by heat and pressure (activation begins around 85–90 °C) to form high-strength, flexible bonds with excellent chemical and oil/solvent resistance.

Applications
Suitable for bonding heat-resistant substrates such as metal, glass, plastics, wood and textiles. Typical applications include:

Processing and recommended parameters
tesa HAF® 8405 is activated by heat and pressure applied over a defined interval. Optimum parameters depend on machine, materials and application. Recommended starting values:

• Pre-lamination: 120–140 °C
• Splicing: Temperature 120–220 °C; Pressure > 2 bar; Time 15–90 s
• Friction liners for clutches: Temperature 180–230 °C; Pressure > 8 bar; Time 3–30 min
• Magnet bonding: Temperature 140–180 °C; Pressure > 6–10 bar; Time 2–5 min
• Structural bonding: Temperature 180–220 °C; Pressure > 10–15 bar; Time > 3–30 min

Additional information
Bonding strength values were obtained under standard laboratory conditions (material: SUS test specimen; bonding conditions: temperature = 180 °C; pressure = 10 bar; time = 30 s). Values are batch-checked as clearance limits. For optimal bonding, surfaces should be clean and dry prior to activation.
