Ball screws, whirled or ground, diameters 20-160mm, screw leads up to 40 mm, spindle lengths up to 15 m, broad selection of nuts:
If your application demands the highest level of positioning accuracy, Thomson grinds the spherical shape to meet your specification. Depending on the size of the balls, the raceway is either ground directly into the full raw material or first whirled and then ground.
Whirled ball screws are recommended for applications when higher precision is required than can be achieved with rolled threaded spindles, e.g. in machine tools, injection molding machines, screw jacks, etc.
Whirled spindles are a cost-effective alternative to ground threaded spindles because they can be manufactured faster in a hard turning process.
Ground Thomson ball screws are available in tolerance classes up to P1, whirled ones in tolerance classes up to P3 and comply with DIN 69051 and ISO 3408.
The ball screw nuts, with flange and cylindrical, are available with DIN-compliant attachments. Most ball screw nuts have profiled wiper rings that reduce lubricant leakage and repel dirt.
Thomson offers flange ball screw nuts with various hole patterns for mounting or cylindrical nuts with feather key or external thread.
Thomson offers the largest selection of ball screws for industry, and special solutions are often required that are not available off the shelf. Thanks to our planning expertise and the ability to manufacture specially developed solutions even in small quantities, Thomson is happy to meet the demand for customer-specific requirements.
