Three fuses are employed for unusual protection (to the instrument) and safety (for the user). Both the 1/8 Amp and 1 Amp instrument fuses are used for normal overload conditions. Protection is provided for high energy fault currents beyond the capabilities of the instrument fuses up to the capacity of the 2 Amp/1000V (20 kW) fuse.
