Overview
DC holding electromagnets provide a stable magnetic holding force when powered by direct current (DC). How it works
When DC voltage is applied, current flows through the copper coil producing a magnetic field in the iron core and housing. Contact with a metal surface completes the magnetic circuit and maximizes holding force. Holding performance depends on coil power and current, magnetic material, contact area and air gap, as well as operating temperature and voltage stability. When power is removed the magnetic field collapses and the part is released.
