Description

Product Overview
The 42CrMo Chrome Plated Rod Normalized (HRC 15–22) is a high-strength piston rod designed for demanding hydraulic and pneumatic applications. Manufactured from 42CrMo alloy steel and normalized to a controlled hardness of HRC 15–22, it balances toughness and machinability. The hard chrome plating provides a mirror-like surface, high wear resistance and improved corrosion protection, suitable for hydraulic cylinder manufacturers, distributors and engineering companies.

Model & Basic Information
  • Model: Normalized
  • Brand: EAST AI
  • Material: 42CrMo4
  • Length: Max. 15m
  • ID Tolerance: f7 / f8 / g6
  • Straightness: ≤0.2/1000 mm
  • Application: Hydraulic cylinders for mobile equipment, industrial machinery and heavy-duty systems
  • Packing: Anti-rust oil on rod surface; each rod packed in paper roll and wooden case; customizable
  • Roughness: ≤0.2 μm

Product Advantages
  • Excellent mechanical properties: 42CrMo alloy steel delivers higher tensile and yield strength than standard carbon steels.
  • Controlled hardness range: Normalization ensures stable HRC 15–22 for machining and hydraulic use.
  • Superior corrosion resistance: Thick hard chrome layer prevents rust in harsh environments.
  • High surface quality: Mirror-like finish reduces friction and extends seal life.
  • Easy machinability: Normalized condition facilitates cutting, drilling and welding compared with quenched & tempered rods.
  • Stable supply: Standard sizes and customizable lengths support distributors and engineering projects.

Production Process
  • Raw material selection: Certified 42CrMo alloy steel.
  • Cutting & straightening: Bars cut to length and straightened to tolerance.
  • Normalization treatment: Heat treatment to achieve HRC 15–22.
  • Peeling or grinding: Remove surface defects to reach dimensional accuracy.
  • Polishing: Fine polish before plating.
  • Chrome plating: Uniform hard chrome layer with high adhesion.
  • Final straightening: Re-straightening to tight tolerances.
  • Inspection & testing: Dimensional, surface and hardness checks on every rod.

Application Fields
  • Hydraulic cylinders: Construction machinery, cranes, mining equipment.
  • Pneumatic cylinders: High-performance actuators for automation.
  • Agricultural machinery: Tractors, harvesters, loaders.
  • Industrial equipment: Presses, injection molding machines.
  • Marine applications: Offshore equipment requiring high corrosion resistance.
  • Material handling: Forklifts and lifting platforms.
