3D coating means that the visible surface and all sides of a component are coated with a film with precise contours, while theunderside remains completely free. This type of packaging is required, for example, to protect components with a scratch-sensitive surface during manufacturing and transportation. The highly transparent and environmentally friendly coating film is applied bubble-free and is, of course, removable without any residuals. The proven packaging process of the 3D coating system, for e.g. washing machines doors, runs as follows: Only the visible side of a washing machine door is precisely coated with a film for scratch protection. For this purpose, the lid is removed using a handling system from an external workpiece carrier system, is placed in the coating machine and coated with film on one side. The excess film is punched out in a circle and conveyed out of the system. The finished coated cover is placed back on the on-site workpiece carrier. The entire cycle time incl. handling and punching time is about 35 seconds.
