MYGALE Seismic detector
Border areas and a large number of sensitive sites now need totally discrete or buried, reliable and inexpensive detection equipment. Martec Serpe-Iesm has extended its range of intrusion detectors with its new multi-terminal sensor MYGALE.
Based on ground vibration detection techniques, this sensor, comprised of four seismic detection units comprising geophones and a local acquisition unit, allows optimum adaptation to the layout of the installation site.
The seismic units are connected to the acquisition unit by cables. Two additional inputs for dry contacts are also provided. The technologies employed by Martec Serpe-Iesm reduce environmental disturbances to a minimum and guarantee, for each seismic unit, the best detection performance possible within a radius of 10 to 30 metres depending on the type of land.
The seismic detection units can be deployed on different types of ground (soil, concrete, asphalt, etc.), spread out over an area or in a line along the outer perimeter to be protected. The ground vibrations created by an individual attempting to cross the protected space are transmitted to the local acquisition unit. This unit carries out the necessary processing operations to analyse the measurements and set off the alarm.
The sensor network enables linear deployment over a distance of 5,000 metres, of a system of detection which combines efficiency, stealth, and localisation of the alarm.

Our famous patented array wheel probe is the result of many years of research and careful design, in consultancy with our RapidScan2 customers in the aerospace market. It features a wide conformable rubber tyre which is acoustically matched to water, providing low loss coupling into the test part for high quality results without the need for gel or large quantities of water. It is ideally suited to hand scanning of large flat or slightly curved parts, covering large areas quickly and efficiently. A central spring loaded roller ensures consistent coupling pressure across the sensor even when scanning narrow parts. Incorporating a 64 element phased array with 0.8mm resolution, and a high resolution position encoder, the Array Wheel Probe provides high quality, high resolution data. Various sizes of wheel and levels of array are available and can now also be used with many instruments on the market.

Measurement Specialties has done pioneering work in the development of ultrasound sensing using Piezo film. Piezoelectric film ultrasound transmitters and receivers offer unique advantages for two-dimensional positioning applications such as:
- Digitizers
- Object detection
- Distance measurement
Piezo Sensor - 40kHz Digitizer Transmitter_Receiver
Description: Piezoelectric film (PVDF) ultrasound transmitter and receivers offer unique advantages for air ranging applications. Depending on the application, resonance frequency and vertical beam directivity of the transmitter and receiver can easily be customized by changing the diameter and length of the PVDF cylinder. The receiver has a very wide horizontal beam angle and it can be reduced by changing the housing design if necessary. PVDF transmitters and receivers also have very low resonance Q value of 5 and PVDF receivers have Q value of 4. This means that the rising time and the signal decay time are much faster than the conventional ceramic transmitters. This characteristic is suitable for high speed data acquisition or high speed digitizer applications. Cylindrical 40kHz PVDF transmitters exhibit omni-directional horizontal beam directivity and broad band characteristics. Cylindrical 40kHz PVDF receivers exhibit very wide horizontal beam directivity and broad band characteristics. These characteristics lend unique solutions in many applications such as two-dimensional positioning, digitizer, object detection, and distance measurement.
