Safety Considerations
NFPA approved explosion vents should be used on all wood applications. The collector should be located outside whenever possible or near an exterior wall with the explosion vents ducted per NFPA outside the building. Read the informative OSHA Hazard Information Bulletin on the subject of improper installation of wood dust collectors in the woodworking industry.
Sprinkler kits should also be installed in the collectors. If equipment being aspirated has the potential to produce sparks, such as a high speed sander, spark detection/suppression systems should be considered. It is best to have the customer check with his Insurance carrier and follow NFPA 654 Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids, 2000 Edition.

Fields of Application: Mist eliminator are used wherever droplets of pollutant or process materials must be removed from liquid-laden waste air. This is the case, among others, in the surface-treatment, chemical, and electronics industries.
Operating Method: The waste air drawn in by a plastic ventilator is passed through a grid section with repeated changes of direction. Because of their inertia, the droplets collide with the walls of the section, are then separated and can be removed from the system below.
Separation Capacity: The separation capacity is characterised by the smallest separable droplet (droplet limit). The sections used by COLASIT are optimally designed for each requirement. The rate of separation amounts to 99.9% of all droplets which are bigger than the droplet limit diameter.
Separation of Aerosols: If the waste air tends to form aerosols these can be effectively separated with a specially sized mesh.
Type of Construction: The COLASIT mist eliminator consists of a rectangular housing, incorporated with standard separation packs in a two-layer configuration. The packs can be removed from the side for cleaning. All components are made of thermoplastic synthetics.

AAF's Oil Mist Collector is a durable, high-performance collector featuring multi-stage filtration. Both easy to clean and maintain, the collector is built with heavy-gauge steel construction and a versatile perimeter frame. Inside are an AMCA Class II centrifugal fan, TEFC motor and V-belt drive.
All Oil Mist Collectors begin with a pre-cleaning stage, which removes heavier mist particles and solid particulate from the incoming air stream. From there, contaminated air travels through a metal mesh pre-filter media, then to either a series of replaceable pocket filters or high-density pleated cartridge filters. The 4-Stage Oil Mist Collector adds a pleated, HEPA-style final filter stage providing 95% efficiency on 0.3 micron particles.
All OMC models are available in both 3-stage and 4-stage construction. Numerous options may be selected to suit your specific needs, including support legs, higher external static pressure, remote fan, motors, variable speed and HTD drives.

Cyclones
The AAF Cyclone is a dry centrifugal collector for dusts of moderate to coarse particle size (>20µ). The Cyclone will remove up to 99% of dust (by weight) generated by steel grinding and saw dust. When used as a pre-cleaner, the Cyclone reduces the dust load on higher efficiency final collectors for longer service life.
Unlike many dust collectors, the AAF Cyclone contains no moving or replaceable parts and is essentially maintenance free. Air is drawn into the cyclone tangentially and rotates at high velocity, separating heavier dust from the air by centrifugal action. The basic Cyclone features an all welded heavy construction enclosing an internal helix, integral fan and motor assembly. Options include a 55-gallon steel drum, hopper with rack and pinion slide gate, discharge elbow, after-filter, and rotary airlock and receiver.

The DynaPure is a self-contained centrifugal collector for source capture of oil mist generated by machining operations. DynaPure collectors can handle continuous operation without the need to shut down for drainage. The compact units feature lower maintenance and easy installation on or adjacent to the machine generating the mist.
A backward inclined aluminum fan provides steep fan curve for optimum performance at minimum noise levels. Mist-laden air is drawn into the DynaPure where a rotating drum collects and agglomerates mist particles from the airstream by centrifugal force. The collected oil drains from the DynaPure unit and may be returned directly to the machine or collected for disposal. A built-in stack discharge returns clean air to the plant atmosphere.
Prefilter and final filter options are ideal for difficult combinations of mist and submicron smoke. These can be factory-installed or retrofitted in the field. Explosion-proof DynaPure models are also available, plus optional voltages, including 50 Hz.

The air filters in the Gemini E range are electrostatic filters for purifying air of pollutant susbtances generated by the use of coolant oils both emulsified and integral, both of soild type (oil combustion fumes) and of liquid type (micromists) and dust produced by welding operations and other industrial processes.
Uses
The electrostatic filter consists of two elements: an ionizer and a collector. The air filtered by the oil mist collector and containing residues of fine mists and smoke (particles < 0.1 micron) is conveyed to the ionizer section where the particles are charged positively. The air then proceeds to the collector which, by the principle of attraction and repulsion of electrostatic charges, captures and definitively retains the polluting particles. The recovered liquid part is sent back to the machine tool.

MistBusters®: Efficient, Compact Air Cleaners For Metalworking Applications
The MistBuster series of air cleaners has significant advantages over competitive mist collectors, including:
High Efficiency. MistBusters remove the mist & smoke generated from water soluble, synthetic and petroleum based metalworking fluids that other oil mist eliminators miss. (Centrifugal units do not remove any smoke!)
Economical operation: No throwaway air filters that reduce airflow as they clog up (most models). Low energy consumption due to superior multi stage air cleaning technology that has low resistance to airflow.
Variable speed controller allows for precise control of the airflow. Why draw excessive mist laden air out of the machine tool enclosure? The MistBuster is the best machine mount mist collector currently available in the market place that allows you to control the negative pressure within the machine tool enclosure. This feature saves energy, reduces maintenance, lowers sound levels and increases efficiency.
Premium Blower - The MistBuster series of compact air cleaners features a very high quality dynamically balanced motorized impeller. This impeller is more compact and energy efficient than conventional direct drive motors & blowers that are used in other systems and is dynamically balanced for smooth operation. This means no vibration is translated to your machine tool improving production quality and consistency.
MistBuster 500 can ship UPS, which significantly reduces shipping charges.

The DELTOLE® is an oil mist collection unit which purifies and cleans the air in working areas, decreases fire risk hazards and operator accidents and increases productivity. It is especially recommended for all metal processing applications.
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The DELTOLE® uses 4 fundamental principles to trap oil particles :
- The oil mist is separared by the fan impellor or by a cyclonic system which allows the majority of oil particles to coalesce.
- The inertia force ensures that the droplets formed in this way are retained and then migrate to the collection tank through a wire knit filter.
- The diffusion forces with “Brownian” motion deal with the very fine particles by means of a high efficiency filter used as an option instead and in place of the last standard final filter.
- For use without recycling, a multi-layer wire knit filter can be substituted for the final filters. The oil collected by the filter is continuously evacuated by means of a siphon.
