Ceramic (ferrite) magnets are composed of strontium carbonate and iron oxide. They are charcoal gray in color and usually appear in the forms of discs, rings, blocks, cylinders, and sometimes arcs for motors.
|
|
|
CERAMICS Ceramics predominantly are bonded by very directional bonds between neighboring atoms in expansive lattice structures (as compared to the chains of polymers). Because every atom in a ceramic directionally shares its electrons within its lattice neighborhood through ionic and/or covalent type bonding, ceramics tend not to be tightly packed like metals. Due to strong directional bonding and non-close packed lattices, ceramics tend to have high stiffness, low electrical conductivity, low density, high hardness, low thermal expansion, high melting or dissociation temperatures, electrical resistance, high strength and corrosion resistance. In essence, ceramics tend to be very “non-reactive” or “inert” because their atoms are essentially electrically neutral through strong directional bonds within a very fixed lattice neighborhood – they have no need to “react” with the outside world looking for electrons to satisfy neutrality.

|
Nextel™ machine-sewable threads are made from strong, continuous alumina-boria-silica fibers (about 90%) and from rayon (about 10%), which is added for resiliency, abrasion resistance, and improved sewability. The thread allows for simple manufacturing of custom blankets, seals, gaskets, curtains, zone dividers and other shaped or quilted items.
It is a practical and effective solution to sewing 3M™ Nextel™ Ceramic Fabrics, Tapes, Sleevings and other high-temperature fabrics.
|
|
Made from 3M™ Nextel™ Fibers, these chopped fibers are used in composite applications. The fibers, commonly chopped to 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2" lengths, are widely known for their role in ceramic underbody tiles which protect NASA's Space Shuttles.
NOTE: These fibers are considered non-respirable. Fibers with diameters greater than 3 microns are considered nonrespirable in humans. 3M™ Nextel™ 312, 440, 550, 610 and 720 Ceramic fibers are 7-13 microns in diameter and therefore pose no known chronic health effects.

ZIRCAR's Refractory Sheet Type RS-A Moldable is a tough ceramic fiber reinforced insulation which contains no asbestos. Developed for induction coil liners and molten metal transport, Refractory Sheet Type RS-A Moldable is ideally suited for a wide range of high temperature, high
thermal shock applications. It is also used for brazing separators and fixtures for jewelry making, as well as a high temperature gasket material. Its high Alumina (Al2O3) content makes it resistant to sticking in many
environments, including molten metals, and it has a maximum operating temperature of 1450°C (2642°F).
Refractory Sheet Type RS-A Moldable is a wet blanket that can be easily formed into a wide variety of simple and complex shapes. Drying results in a strong rigid shape that can be re-wet to restore the original moldability. Baking irreversibly removes the moldability, leaving Refractory Sheet Type RS-A Moldable rigid and unaffected by moisture. Refractory Sheet Type RS-A Moldable can be frozen and thawed repeatedly with no loss in moldability
or other properties.
Refractory Sheet Type RS-A Moldable can be dried rapidly, either with a torch or by applying directly to a hot furnace, to make quick repairs of cracks, or to replace missing refractories.

ZRCI Refractory Sheet Types RS-Cloth and RS-Tape are fiber reinforced alumina composites in a highly flexible form. They are received dried, when wetted with water or Al-HARD Hardener they become extremely flexible. They can be wrapped into many simple or complex shapes and will stick to themselves. When dried they become an extremely hard, strong, self supporting composite structures. RS-Putty can be used to burnish any surface and provide a very smooth hard finish. After a low temperature bake-out of 300°C (570°F) RS-Cloth And Tape are unaffected by moisture.
They offer the strength, durability, flexibility and versatility required by many high temperature applications up to 1300°C (2373°F). Their high alumina content makes Refractory Sheet RS-Cloth and RS-Tape highly resistant to many environments including Hot Glass handling, molten aluminum and chemical and petroleum processing. After they are baked out they are not affected by water as well as many types of fuel oils. When hardened with AL-Hard Refractory Sheet RS-Cloth and RS-Tape become "rock hard" for greater strength.

The remarkable properties of mineral wools have made them a valuable and widely used raw material in numerous different fields. Mineral wool is a chemically inert raw material which cannot rot, catch fire or burn and resists very high temperatures.
From its experience and from various studies, Eurocoustic has developed the natural characteristics of mineral wools according to their use, in order to optimise their performance in terms of temperature resistance, elasticity, solidity, metrology and size of flocks. These results are achieved by the treatment of the surface of the fibres with one or more products, making it possible to take into account both the desired performance and the environment in which the mineral wool is to be blended (wet environment, dry mixing)
Thus, Eurocoustic offers products which are specially adapted to their applications.
Every study is specific and results in a specific product definition.
Wool for spraying : COATWOOL
Wool for friction materials : TECHWOOL MF
Wool for the insulation of cold pipes : TECHWOOL CRYOGENIQUE
