Launch of DA132 Intrinsically Safe Multitone Sounder from RTK Instruments
100dBA output with 32 user selectable tones
RTK Instruments Ltd announce the launch of their DA132 Intrinsically Safe Multitone Sounder. ATEX and IECEx certified to Ex II 1G Ex ia IIC T4 and with an output greater than 100dBA, this Sounder is ideally suited for use in areas of high ambient noise. Additionally, for extreme noise levels, it can be linked with our DA135 Intrinsically Safe Beacon to combine audible and visual warnings.
The DA132 Sounder has a choice of 32 tones, including all the major international standards, all of which are selectable using a DIL switch. The unit is easy to install as all the connections are made to the base and the sounder head 'twists and clicks' into the base on commissioning. With the IP65 rugged housing, the DA132 Sounder is suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions of oil, gas and chemical industries.
RTK Instruments is a leading supplier of safe and hazardous area alarm, display and interface products and can provide specific application advice, as well as product recommendations and installation advice.

The DB5 intrinsically safe multitone sounder is ideally suited for use in areas of high ambient noise. Additionally, for extreme noise levels, they can be linked with the DA134 Xenon Beacons to combine audible and visual warnings. They are designed with a re-entrant configuration to combine compactness with maximum efficiency.
One of 26 tones can be selected using a 5-way DIL switch and by switching the incoming negative supply to a third terminal a second tone is sounded. The sounders have suitable low frequencies to conform to BS 5839: Part 1: 1988, making them ideal for fire alarm systems and other annunciator applications.
The IP65 enclosure enables the DB5 sounder to cope with the harsh environmental conditions found offshore as well as those of the onshore oil, gas and chemical industries. The tough construction enhances the reliability of the solid-state piezoelectric sounder. |

The sound level can be measured but no precise
indication exists for the range of the sound. Too
many unknown factors affect this value: type of
sound, speed and direction of the wind, humidity,
fog, rain etc. etc. The data shown in the following
table are useful as theoretical indication.
The intensity of a signal is always respective -
see table on the right.
An increase in sound of 3 dB is heard as a
double sound level. |

Key features :
•Very high voice message reproduction quality
•Number of messages : 2 in wire configuration, up to 256 in RS 232 configuration (status also available through RS 232)
•The messages are stored on a MMC card : 15 minutes of broadcasting on 32MB, 8 hours on 1 GO…
•The messages or sounds can be self-recorded and personalized
•One stereo 0 dB output for external amplifier connection
Technical data :
•Digital audio player Mono/stereo
•All commands and status available through RS 232 interface
•Plays 2 messages through two dedicated, multi modes optoisolated inputs
•Reads standard audio wave files (.wav)
•Messages are stored on standard MMC (multi media cards) memory
•Plays single or multiple messages (sequence file)
•One stereo 0 dB output for external amplifier connection
•One mono 8 watts : 4 ohms amplifier on board
•2 free contacts (NO-NC), 2 A, activated during playback

The Siralert CS range is composed of high output warning sirens to warn inhabitants, workers in hazardous areas.... They are omnidirectional sirens, specially designed for outdoor use in case of emergency situations : flood warning, dams, tidal wave, landslides, pollution, fire, industrial or natural disasters...
Sound levels from 136 dB to 155 dB at 1 meter. The Siralert sirens are electronically designed : it is possible to emit the National Civil Defence Warning Signal, the standard Emergency signal or other customised sounds and messages, and to broadcast live message as a public-address system. They are omnidirectional.
Watertight control and supply cabinet (proective system IP 65) supplied.
Number of horns : 2 to 24 horns. 3 possible horn configurations :
- omnidirectional back to back
- directional side by side
- directional one above the other.
This is a modular system. From 375 to 2250 W.
Possibility for control by dry-contact relays, RS 232, RS 485 or by radio control. Other systems on request.

Federal Signal's Model DSA Directional Speaker Array provides excellent voice and tone reproduction and is ideal for overcoming high levels of industrial noise. Design flexibility allows the user to combine up to four speaker arrays; each array will hold from two to six re-entrant speakers. Speakers have a 70º horizontal angle of dispersion, accommodating specific sound output patterns. Ideal for outdoor industrial plant warning, the Model DSA speaker array allows sound coverage to be customized to each site, preventing wasted sound level in and around the plant.
- Overcomes ambient noise of industrial environments
- Provides maximum speech recognition and tone reproduction
- Produces 121dBc @ 100'
- Three mounting kits available |

European Machine Directive 89/392 requires the installation of appropriate audible and visual warning devices as
an essential safety requirement for the operator in industrial environments.
• European norms EN 457 and EN 842 (machine safety: audible and visual danger signalling) specify the technical,
design and functional characteristics the audible and visual signal must have to be effective, i.e. audible or visible,
distinguishable and unequivocal.
• SIRENA acoustic (electric and electronic sirens, bells and industrial horns) and luminous devices (continuous,
blinking, rotating and flashing beacons) conform in every aspect to the technical and functional requirements of
Norms EN 457 and EN 842.
• The installation of Sirena’s range of audible and visual products onto machines conforms in every way to the
safety standards set out in current norms. |
