The Federal Signal Model A is a general- purpose electro- mechanical siren that produces a distinctive sound and tonal quality for industrial applications. It has a high maximum pitch which provides excellent contrast to industrial ambient noise. Introduced in 1918, the Model A is still used today in many rugged and extreme environments and applications.

| The sirens are used as alarm, warning or signalling devices. Thanks to theircharacteristic siren wail, they generate an unmistakable and penetrating alarm. The high volume of the wail and ist allround directivity guarantee, that a suitably large range is attained. The different sizes and versions of the sirens open up a broad range of applications, including signalling for critical situations. Used with the protection cover available as optional extra, the sirens are suitable for outdoor use. Sirens for special voltages and frequencies are available on request. The housings are made of aluminium die cast and coated in light grey with weatherproof paint. The protection cover for the sirens F0 and FI is made of weather-resistant plastic. The protection covers of the other versions are made of sheet steel and coated with weatherproof paint. When using a protection cover, the motor conforms to protection degree IP 44 and the siren housing to IP 22. The sirens are designed for short-time operation S 2 –15 minutes according to VDE 0530, Part 1. For the power supply connection the sirens F0 and F1 are equipped with a cable gland Pg 9 and the types FII – FIIIb with a cable gland Pg 13.5. |

The sound level can be measured but no precise
indication exists for the range of the sound. Too
many unknown factors affect this value: type of
sound, speed and direction of the wind, humidity,
fog, rain etc. etc. The data shown in the following
table are useful as theoretical indication.
The intensity of a signal is always respective -
see table on the right.
An increase in sound of 3 dB is heard as a

Federal Signal's Vibratone® heavy duty bell product line utilizes a modular approach to combine gongs and mechanisms allowing for greater flexibility and selection. Three gong sizes are available; the Model A4 is four inches in diameter; the Model A6 is six inches in diameter; and the Model A10 is ten inches in diameter. Each larger gong produces a different tone and a higher dBa output.

Bus scheduler
The G0700 scheduler can centralise several "sub-stations" or several buildings via BUS.
These "sub-stations" can be made up of J3000 or J3500 alarm panels. It is therefore possible to maintain local processing and signalling (multitask function and downgrade mode).
The centralisation can be RS485, RS422 (2 wire, 4 wire) type, Modbus RTU or Jbus.
Other links possible: optic fibre, modem, ETHERNET.

The G0700 carries out the following functions:
- Controls the presence of the modules on the bus

The EEx II signalling hooter dGH21was developed for warning, calling and indicating purposes in areas with explosive atmospheres in group II and for rough ambient conditions. Thanks to its compliance with the explosion protection class II 2G EEx de IIC T6, this signalling device can be used without restriction in all areas with explosive atmospheres in zones 1 and 2. The hooter produces a volume of appr.105dB(A) . The characteristic hooting sound can be clearly heard above any other higherfrequency sounds in the area. The dRGH21 comprises a telephone calling relay and reproduces the signals in the pulse rate of the overriding telephone call. The explosion protection is given through the flameproof chamber and the chamber “increased safety”. The flameproof chamber contains the electromagnetic drive system and, for the dRGH21, an additional telephone calling relay. The signal membrane is mounted outside of the flameproof room beneath a closing cap with the appropriate sound control. The housing is made of GRP thus guaranteeing protection against corrosion. Furthermore the construction is lowweight and highly robust. All DC versions are equipped with an electronic contact breaker which considerably increases service life compared with other commercially available devices.
