Cable protection conduit serves as both a cable protector and cable management system for electrical installations. It is to protect cables from moisture and physical damage, reduce mechanical stresses, insulate against extreme temperatures and render electrical circuits easy to locate.
Cable protection conduit can be used in any electrical installation where a certain length of cable may be exposed. They can be found in railway settings, for articulated robots, in extreme temperature zones, on building construction sites and in underground applications.
Cable protection conduit can be made of metal, plastic or fiber-based materials. Flexible conduit is used in special applications where vibration or movement is present. Manufacturers generally indicate a standardized rating or protection level for the conduit.
Be sure to define the cable system's installation environment, as electrical standards vary with setting. In addition, the size and number of cables to be protected will determine the conduit diameter.
