CAT® tool-holders, also known as Caterpillar® or V-flange tool-holders, are used to hold cutting tools on machining centers.
These holders can accept both metric and imperial cutting tools. They closely resemble BT types, except for the type of flange and pull stud. CAT® holders use an imperial thread for the pull stud/retention knob.
This tooling comes in a range of sizes, designated as CAT 30, CAT 40 and CAT 50. The number is based on standards by the Association for Manufacturing Technology (formerly NMTB).
